About This Wine

Exaltation

Red Blend

We work with a lot of winemakers, but there are few who are as versatile as Joe Otos. We’ve tried his take on Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, Cabernet Sauvignons—they’ve all been incredible. But where Joe truly excels is in making red blends. Over the past few years, his blends have won a number of gold medals and 90 point scores. In fact, throughout 2016, his blends were consistently voted some of our members' top favorite wines.

For the 2013 Exaltation, Joe selected some of the best vineyards across California, from the North Coast to Paso Robles. The result is a carefully balanced blend of Merlot, Petite Syrah, Zinfandel, Barbera, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon that’s both elegantly subtle and incredibly drinkable. This award-winning wine received the bronze medal from the 2017 West Coast Wine Competition, with more accolades sure to follow.

It’s a pretty bold choice to name a wine Exaltation, invoking an experience that elevates the spirit beyond reason. But one glass in and you’ll start to understand it’s not an empty promise. This wine is unique for it’s subtle depth, powerful elegance, and rich array of flavors. Notes of blackberry, blueberry, and plum leap out immediately, followed by nuanced hints of oak, cigar box, spice, and cedar. Extremely food-friendly, this blend is perfect for impressing your guests at dinner parties.

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.
