About This Wine
Espaldera
Garnacha-Tempranillo
Produced from vines planted more than a century ago, the Espaldera 2015 Garnacha-Tempranillo’s remarkable depth of flavor was rewarded with the Gold medal and 94 points at the 2017 Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition. Grenache and Tempranillo have been grown in Spain’s Campo de Borja region for nearly a millennium. The region’s master winemakers have spent many generations developing their art, passing their lessons down through the ages. A truly superlative example of these wines is frequently the work of decades, or even a century, of careful cultivation. To tend an old vine to such a remarkable age is the product of tremendous diligence and skill. The older grape vines get, the smaller the number of grapes they yield each year. However, the grapes they do produce are far more intense in their depth of flavor, making them a prized commodity among wine lovers throughout the world.
Espaldera is clear proof that patience it takes to cultivate old vines pays off. On the nose, the two varietals blend seamlessly to produce mouth-watering aromas of ripe red fruits and blueberries. In the mouth, the Grenache provides sumptuously smooth ripe red fruit flavors as the Tempranillo furnishes exotic notes of spice and black tea. This is a wine of uncommon depth that demands to be sipped and savored through its long, even finish.
