About This Wine

Duckhorn Vineyards

Sauvignon Blanc

Duckhorn Vineyards has a storied history in California winemaking. In the panoply of big players, they are one of the biggest, and they are still making fantastic wine. Since 1982 they have been making a fantastic Sauvignon Blanc from their estate and select Napa Valley vineyards. This is a rich and elegant wine that has been blended with Sémillon to add depth and complexity. It was fermented and aged using stainless steel and oak to preserve freshness, but it can still benefit from the oak's added structure. It has notes of ripe citrus and tropical fruit that are accentuated by the refreshing acidity and Semillon driven silkiness.

NOTE: This is NOT a Firstleaf Exclusive Wine.

Wine Region

Napa Valley

Napa gained international acclaim following the Judgement of Paris in 1976, when its wines defeated its French counterparts in a blind tasting. Napa's signature wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and various Bordeaux blends, but many other varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive here. With 16 sub-AVAs and a Mediterranean climate with rich geology, Napa is a winemaker's dream. The winegrowing region runs between the Mayacamas Mountains and Vaca Mountains for 30 miles, from Calistoga to Los Carneros. Napa has a wide array of soil types for such a small region, from volcanic foothills to alluvial valley floors, which help to produce varied and complex wines.
