About This Wine

Duckhorn Vineyards

Cabernet Sauvignon

We love carrying wines from multiple vintages because vintage can tell you so much about what a bottle of wine is supposed to be. Drink enough vintages, and you can get insight into weather patterns over decades as well as watch house styles change. Duckhorn Vineyards is known for producing great wine. They've been making Cabernet Sauvignon since 1978. This wine blends fruit from estate vineyards and top Napa Valley growers. It embodies the valley's complexity and offers a seamless balance between fruit, oak, and tannin. Try it against the 2018 vintage and see if you can spot the differences. Either way, you are in for a treat!

Duckhorn Vineyards 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, California

Wine Region

Napa Valley

Napa gained international acclaim following the Judgement of Paris in 1976, when its wines defeated its French counterparts in a blind tasting. Napa's signature wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and various Bordeaux blends, but many other varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive here. With 16 sub-AVAs and a Mediterranean climate with rich geology, Napa is a winemaker's dream. The winegrowing region runs between the Mayacamas Mountains and Vaca Mountains for 30 miles, from Calistoga to Los Carneros. Napa has a wide array of soil types for such a small region, from volcanic foothills to alluvial valley floors, which help to produce varied and complex wines.

  • A figure representing the Blackberry tasting note. Blackberry

Lush, energetic, and intense, this gorgeous Cabernet begins with aromas of blackberry, huckleberry, and chocolate, as well as hints of mint, cardamom, clove, and graham cracker. On the palate, it displays lovely brightness, with firm, resolved tannins framing flavors of boysenberry and blackcurrant. As it evolves in the glass, subtle sweet and savory notes are revealed, carrying the wine to a long, focused finish.
