Winning Best of Class for house reds at the 2017 West Coast Wine Competition, Domaine Abeille 2014 is a lovely example of the best Napa Valley has to offer. The first wineries began popping up in California’s Napa Valley nearly 150 years ago, and in that time the area has matured from a rustic frontier of pioneer-winemakers to one of the world’s finest and most celebrated regions. The Domaine Abeille 2014 combines Merlot with small amounts of Tempranillo and Grenache to produce a truly distinctive wine. On the nose, the Merlot expresses aromas of deep red fruits and black cherry. The Grenache builds on this profile with delicate hints of licorice and black pepper. In the mouth, the Merlot leads with the same fruit flavors, which are softened by the Tempranillo's accents of plum and deepened by the bold raisin flavoring of the Grenache.
