Vino Rosso

A blend of classic Italian varietals, this Vino Rosso is rustic and Old World in style. Fruit used for this wine is from Sicily. The region is smack in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea - it is hot, dry, and perfect for growing grapes with bold flavors. Yields during the 2019 growing season were down overall due to a cold and wet spring that delayed the start of bud break, but what came out of the vintage is spectacular. This wine is subtle, elegant, and balanced. Deep dark fruit compote and earthy notes complement each other as tannins round out the finish and keep flavors lingering on the palate. Influence from barrel aging in American oak highlights non-traditional notes as well. Uncomplicated and approachable, this is perfect to pair with any tomato-based or Italian dish. The island is home to many indigenous grape varieties, featuring reds such as Sangiovese, Nero d'Avola and Frappato, and popular white varieties including Vermentino, Catarratto and Zibibbo. As the largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily's position between Europe, Africa and the Levant has long made it a strategic location. The Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Normans and Arabs have all at various times controlled Sicily, and left their mark on its 4,000-year-old winemaking tradition.
