About This Wine

Dita Akello

Vermentino

This just in! Our Dita Akello Vermentino took home a "Best of Class" designation, Double Gold Medal and 95 points from the 2022 Harvest Terroir Challenge.

Our Dita Akello Vermentino is aromatic and charming, featuring aromas of blossoming citrus trees and flavors of freshly picked stone fruit as it unfolds in your glass. Over the past few decades, this Italian grape has been steadily capturing the attention of Australian winemakers. Vermentino’s high acidity and naturally fruity nature allow it to flourish in the soils of South Eastern Australia, where it takes advantage of cool coastal conditions provided by the Pacific and Indian Oceans. In warmer inland vineyards, this variety can ripen without fear of losing its crisp textures, while other white grapes often struggle in Australia’s hot summers. Our newly released 2021 vintage is a delicious taste of this grape’s budding New World success and will undoubtedly steal your admiration as well. To experience this wine at its best, serve it well chilled with buttery seafood, creamy cheeses and herbal sauces. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

Wine Region

South Eastern Australia

Covering the entire southeastern third of the country, the South Eastern Australia designation is a vast area (over 1,200 miles long and encompassing the regions of South Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania). Many of Australia's best wines are made here. From the stunning Shiraz produced around Adelaide to the luscious Sémillons of the Hunter Valley, and from the fragrant Pinot Noirs of Tasmania to the lush Chardonnay of Riverina, nearly every grape variety and wine style flourishes in South Eastern Australia, basking in the sun-kissed Mediterranean climate and rich, varied soils.

  • A figure representing the Citrus Blossom tasting note. Citrus Blossom
  • A figure representing the Peach tasting note. Peach

Energetic aromas of white flower and orange blossom delight the senses, becoming more intense with each swirl. Modest acidity offers a touch of texture on a light, off-dry palate where white peach flavors join Bosc pear for a youthful, balanced and fruit-focused wine.
