About This Wine

Devil's Advocate

Red Wine Blend

With wine, the Devil is in the details, and with Devil’s Advocate, you can always be sure that you are drinking exquisitely crafted wine. This blend is dark with intense fruit flavors. The winemaker fermented the grapes a little warmer than usual and left the skins in contact with the wine for an extended period, which left the wine with dark notes of honeyed dark cherry and complex hints of mocha and oak. We love how this wine complements food but have especially enjoyed it with a bit of dark chocolate after dinner. Judges love it too! It was awarded 96 Points and a Double Gold at the 2019 New York International Wine Competition and called the "California Red Blend of the Year." It also took home 95 points, a "Best of Class" nod, and a Gold medal at the 2019 New World International Wine Competition. And it left the 2019 Sunset International Wine Competition with 91 points and another Gold medal!

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Black Cherry tasting note. Black Cherry
  • A figure representing the Coffee tasting note. Coffee
  • A figure representing the Oak tasting note. Oak

This is a beautiful, dark wine. We love how well integrated the notes of fruit, coffee, and oak present themselves. The fruit and spice play beautifully off of a chocolate dessert at the end of dinner.
