Persuasively plump red and black fruit flavors accompany hints of spice for a compelling combination of varietal flavors and oak influence. Dark-skinned grape varieties thrive in the warmer climates of California. Here, large rocks on the soil’s surface soak up heat from the sun. This means that when cooling delta breezes and chilly nights move in, the grapes can continue to ripen using the stored heat that radiates off the rocks. These conditions are important for thick-skinned grapes that require ample heat to reach peak ripeness levels and velvety tannic textures.
