About This Wine

Curioture

Chardonnay

Chardonnay is a versatile grape with a style for everyone. Our 2018 vintage is a delicious fusion of California’s climatic influences and our winemaker’s techniques with its refreshing acidity, toasted nuttiness, and fresh fruit flavors. This Chardonnay comes from two counties with varying climates. Monterey County is cool and coastal, while Sonoma County offers higher temperatures. Both have limited annual rainfall, allowing these grapes to ripen well into autumn. Cool temperatures preserve natural acidity, while the long, warm growing season allows Chardonnay’s varietal flavors to progress from citrus to stone fruit. This wine was aged in oak to create complexity beyond fruit flavor, adding delightful toasty elements and balance. Curioture always brings out our inner “wine geek,” and we’re excited for you to discover yours. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

Wine Region

Monterey County

Not to be confused with Monterey AVA, Monterey County is a larger designation that also includes the Carmel and San Antonio valleys, among others. Encompassing three distinct zones at the northern end of the Central Coast, Monterey County produces vast amounts of high-quality Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris. For reds, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon have often been replaced by Pinot Noir, Syrah and Grenache in recent years. These cooler-climate grapes achieve greatness through the influence of Monterey Bay, which pushes cold fogs and chilly afternoon winds down the Salinas Valley, tempering the sun's heat and allowing a long, moderate ripening season.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Almond tasting note. Almond
  • A figure representing the Green Apple tasting note. Green Apple

Aromas of toasted almonds and brioche allude to oak influence. It's natural acidity cust the Chardonnay’s creamy, full body, which brings the mouthfeel into perfect balance. Green mango, white peach, and tart apple flavors create an upbeat fruitiness without becoming overly sweet.
