About This Wine

Crimson Earth

Zinfandel

Varietal: Zinfandel
Alcohol By Volume: 14%
Region: Lodi, California
MSRP: $30.00

We're in love with this Zinfandel and after one sip you'll be hooked too. Part of what makes this wine so special is that the grapes were picked from 75-year old vines. Old vines grow less grapes, but those that they do produce get more nutrients and sunlight than those from younger vines. So, while difficult to cultivate, old vine fruit is out of this world. These grapes combined with Crimson Earth's winemakers, some of the most passionate Zinfandel enthusiasts around, result in an elegant wine with notes of black fruit, spice and vanilla.

REGION:

With the classic Mediterranean climate of warm days and cool nights, the picturesque vineyards of Lodi, east of the San Francisco Bay, is one of the best regions in California for growing grapes. Its idyllic climate produces a diverse group of incredible wines with refreshing natural acidity. Having been home to vineyards since 1850s, the area is one of the oldest grape-growing regions in the country and its incredible fruit attracts winemakers from all over the world.

TASTING NOTES:

The Crimson Earth is a dark, elegant, and complex wine. Slightly spicy, its fragrant notes of baking spice, cinnamon and vanilla accent the deep, ripe black fruit giving the wine an strong flavor profile that makes it a joy to sip. Medium-bodied with aromas of sweet bramble-berry fruit, hints of maple syrup, and a touch of rose, this wine has a sophisticated elegance to it that will delight your palate and impress your guests.

Wine Region

Lodi

The jewel of the Central Valley, Lodi lies just east of the California Delta in an area of varied terroir. Winemakers here can extract different grape variety expressions from each plot of land. Zinfandel is common here, making deeply fruity and tantalizingly smoky wines, often from old vines. But the deep loamy soils and balmy Mediterranean climate, with its warm days and cool nights, help keep Lodi's grape varieties and winemaking styles impressively diverse. Alongside the ubiquitous Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Viognier also thrive. Lodi is a melting pot of different grape varieties and winemaking techniques, all of which make it a rewarding region to explore.
