About This Wine

Contre-Jour

Bordeaux Blanc

Contre-Jour focuses on the bright, crisp sunlight from this vintage’s growing season and captures the fresh citrus notes and natural acidity of this quintessentially Sauvignon Blanc-driven Bordeaux white blend. It’s important to know that a very good white Bordeaux is quite enigmatic. They do not tend to be overly aromatic, they do however quietly command your attention with more understated scents like beeswax, or white flowers. In the traditional sense of being an Old World wine, ours is equally subtle and elegant on the palette. The overall expression and experience captures the chiaroscuro of sunlight and shadows, which makes our Bordeaux Blanc a perfect accoutrement to an indulgent seafood platter or on its own as a light apéritif.

Wine Region

Bordeaux

Probably the world's most famous wine region, Bordeaux is a true powerhouse of French quality. While Bordeaux is home to some of the country's most expensive bottles, it is also possible to find great-value wines from small producers. Almost all red and white wines from Bordeaux are blends. Reds tend to be a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. But just as important as the blends are the quality of the region's terroir and unique winemaking techniques. The Bordeaux region is divided by the Gironde River into two main parts. Cabernet Sauvignon reigns supreme on the Left Bank, while Merlot dominates the Right Bank. White wines are usually a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
