About This Wine

Common Phenomena

Chardonnay - Sauvignon Blanc

The Russian River Valley is a special place for winemaking. Cold, foggy nights melt into warm days. The special Golderidge soil (a mix of fractured sandstone and sandy loam) mixed with the climate and influence of Burgundian winemaking means that most of the wines coming out of this region are phenomenal. Even when compared to other releases from the region the Common Phenomena is special. The blend is incredibly rare, you don’t often see these two grapes together. In the blend, the Chardonnay has a classic structure. It’s power and poise with a rich and concentrated texture. The Sauvignon Blanc brings beautiful acidity and aromatic intensity. They complement each other perfectly. When you taste this wine you can tell what each brings to the blend, and why they are such a good match. Judges rave about this wine too. It was awarded 96 Points, a "Best of Class" nod, and a Double Gold medal (unanimous Gold from every judge!) at the 2019 Harvest Challenge.

Wine Region

Russian River Valley

Prized for its elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Sonoma's Russian River Valley is one of California's premier AVAs for cool-climate wines. Blessed with the Petaluma Gap—a break in the coastal mountains where chill, foggy air blows in from the Pacific—the valley also benefits from the effects of the Russian River itself. This draws cool Pacific Ocean air inland and creates blanketing fogs that veil the vineyards throughout the chilly mornings. The result is one of the state's longest and coolest growing seasons. Bracing acidity and complex flavors characterize wines from this region, which also includes excellent sparklers made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
