About This Wine

Cloudy Bay

Sauvignon Blanc

Considered to be the purest expression of terroir in the Marlborough region, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is made from nine different plots of land. Made with grapes that are harvested by hand in cool evening temperatures to preserve their aromas, this wine owes its fruity character to the region's maritime climate. The 2020 harvest was completed under the unprecedented conditions of a New Zealand-wide lock-down due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and vibrant on the nose, with aromatics of bright citrus, kaffir lime, orchard blossom, and passionfruit.

Cloudy Bay 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, New Zealand

Wine Region

Marlborough

New Zealand's Marlborough region is arguably its most important, a name synonymous with the country's distinctive world-class Sauvignon Blancs. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc—with its tropical fruit, gooseberry and herbaceous notes—is one of a kind. And it is all thanks to Marlborough's terroir: a large, gravelly river valley inland of Cloudy Bay at the northeast tip of the South Island, it enjoys long, warm, maritime-influenced summers. But Marlborough isn't only about Sauvignon Blanc. The region also produces exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, sparkling wine and both dry and sweet Riesling.
