About This Wine

Château La Nerthe

Rhône Red Blend

Red wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape are a blend of many grapes. This wine from Château La Nerthe has a complexity that's achieved by the grape varieties and the excellence of the terroirs. Winemaking without artifice promotes length and finesse rather than power and concentration. Aging in large casks, wooden vats, and barrels confers a superb balance between freshness and mature tannins, resulting in wines with great aging potential. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault dominate the blend and give birth to an intense wine with extraordinary aging potential. The color is a dense garnet, while the intense bouquet reveals aromas of cherry and wild strawberry with notes of spices and garrigue. The tannins have a soft, delicate texture.

Wine Region

Châteauneuf du Pape

Rich, spicy and powerful—three good reasons why France's Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are beloved around the world. The Southern Rhône's largest appellation was the first in France to require production rules, making it the first AOC. While there are 13 permitted grape varieties a winemaker here can choose from, many of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's red wines are made from pure Grenache, with Mourvèdre and Syrah also featuring heavily. The climate is warm and Mediterranean-influenced, with hot days, cool nights and drying winds to keep grapes healthy. This gives the vineyards ideal conditions, aided by rocky soils and galets roulés stones, which soak up the daytime heat to radiate it back to the vines at night.

  • A figure representing the Cherry tasting note. Cherry

The dark, deep, inky color of the wine immediately shows the concentration of the vintage. The nose of blackcurrants, black tea, dried flowers definitely stands out. The mouth is rich, fruity, velvety, with an incredibly layered tannin structure. The wine is balanced, pure, intense, and has incredible aging potential.
