About This Wine

Chanmé Méchant

Grenache Blanc

We proudly present the newest vintage of our Chanmé Méchant Grenache Blanc. This wine is all about brightness, showcasing fresh fruit flavors and a tantalizing mineral quality. With previous vintages earning a Platinum Medal and "Best Grenache Blanc" honors, we're excited to see what praise this new vintage will bring. Situated along France's southern coast, the Pays d'Oc region is the perfect setting for Grenache Blanc. This light-skinned mutation of Grenache Noir can be selective about where it thrives best. If it's too chilly, it struggles to develop its distinctive fruity characteristics; if it's too hot, it loses its acidity. Fortunately, the Pays d'Oc has warm summers, cooled by refreshing winds from the northwest. These conditions prevent Grenache grapes from overripening while allowing them to develop their full spectrum of fruit flavors. For the best experience, we recommend serving this wine well-chilled alongside fresh seafood or fruit salads. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

Wine Region

Pays d'Oc

If you've vacationed in the south of France, you've probably visited the Pays d'Oc region. Embracing the Mediterranean from Spain to Provence, this region is famed as much for its Grenache, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as its endless sunshine. Pays d'Oc covers non-AOC wines made across this large, sun-kissed region, known as France's "New World." Far from the regulations of the AOC system, pioneering winemakers headed here to experiment, crafting many now-famous wines that often state their grape variety on the label—not something that was common in France before then. IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) within France’s wine classification system focuses on controlling regional and geographical origin. The category is less restrictive than the AOC classification and gives winemakers more freedom with style and taste profile when creating wines.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the White Flowers tasting note. White Flowers
  • A figure representing the Mineral tasting note. Mineral

Our Grenache Blanc is crisp and bright. White flower aromas create a springtime feeling on the nose. The palate is light-bodied and leans more mineral-driven than fruity. Mouthwatering textures and notes of crisp Asian pear make for a juicy finish that lingers.
