About This Wine
Cassiday Blare
Red Blend
An infamous bootlegger, George Cassiday is notable for providing alcohol for most of the United States Congress during a decade of prohibition. Near the end of his “career” as an illicit alcohol salesman, he decided to write a tell-all in six front page articles for the Washington Post shedding light on the fact that the highest elected officials were regularly breaking the law. Needless to say, it was controversial. This wine, the Cuvee Claudette (named for Claudette Colbert, the original flapper), is as complex as navigating Prohibition. With extraordinary berry notes and a fresh fruit intensity that is framed by a mature structure, we just can’t get enough of this wine. The blend of fruit, herbs, and vanilla make this a wine that we love pairing with food. Try it with a Margarita pizza, grilled lamb sausage, or roasted venison or pork. Judges love it too! It's a 92 Point, Silver medal winning wine in the eyes of the 2019 New York International Wine Competition judges, and it took home another Silver medal from the 2019 Sunset International Wine Competition!
