About This Wine
Calchas
Cabernet – Merlot – Petite Sirah
Our Red Blend from Calchas is certainly not an everyday wine. With layers of rich flavor, dense textures, and complex aging characteristics, this sumptuous wine deserves a moment of contemplation. Although this is a well-known Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petite Sirah, tertiary characteristics dominate its flavor profile. Bright fruit fades away to reveal the nuance and seduction brought forth by oak maturation. The small region of Rattlesnake Hills is home to only a handful of wineries. Here, hardy red grape varieties take advantage of the region’s notably warm climate, ripening slowly under ample sunshine while surrounding hillsides provide protection from chilling polar winds. This results in concentrated wines that make ideal candidates for extended aging. Our blend is an extraordinary example of this styling and is well-worthy of a special occasion or memorable meal.
