About This Wine

Burele

Cabernet Sauvignon-Petit Verdot

In France, vineyard management is a little different than what we are accustomed to‚ as part of the “Old World” they are subject to rules and guidelines for how they farm. One of the most interesting rules involves water. To use the name D’Oc (the growing region) on a wine label, the farmer cannot use any irrigation. Growers are dependent on deep vine roots and the caprice of nature. Thankfully 2016 was a great year in the south of France. A soft winter led to a cool spring, and the grapes produced wines with an earthy nose of pine and red cherry that adds tartness to the wine. These flavors come through best when paired with food, you even get some great secondary savory notes. 2018 Critics Challenge Wine Competition, San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge, and the International Women's Wine Challenge medal winner.

Wine Region

France

While it was not the first country to master winemaking, no other country has determined the course of wine and wine culture as much as France. From the sparkling wines of Champagne to the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of Burgundy; from Bordeaux's sumptuous blends to Alsace's Riesling; and from the Loire Valley's Sauvignon Blancs to exciting new regions like Pays d'Oc in the south, France has given the world nearly all the major styles and grape varieties that dominate what we drink today. There are numerous reasons why France and wine are so inextricably linked, but perhaps the foremost is geography. Few places can rival France's unique array of hot and cool-climate regions and the abundant maritime influences and mountainous terrain found throughout the country.
