About This Wine

Bodewell

Pinot Noir

The Carneros appellation is one of the more unique AVA’s in Northern California – the region crosses into both Sonoma and Napa, and it receives significantly less rainfall than its cool climate counterparts as it is farther from the Pacific Ocean. Given the foggy mornings, warm sunny days, and cool temperatures at night, vineyards planted in Los Carneros are idyllic for Pinot Noir. The varietal requires both ample sunshine for ripening and also cool temperatures to develop concentrated flavors and retain natural acidity. This wine is a stunning example of why the area is so perfect for this fussy Pinot Noir grape. It is leaner in style but still well-rounded and full of tart red and black fruit flavors. Earthy aromas, sweetness from oak, and balanced tannins are complemented by an approachable acidity, making each sip long and incredibly enjoyable. Perfect on its own or paired with flavorful seafood dishes and earthy vegetables.

Wine Region

Los Carneros

Carneros straddles the southern border of two of the state's finest winegrowing regions—Napa and Sonoma—down to the north shore of San Pablo Bay. This is a premium cool-climate winemaking area, where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir reign, producing delicate still and sparkling wines. Carneros Pinot Noir is famed for its berry and herb profile, while its Chardonnay is crisply acidic with fresh stone fruit flavors. The vines grow on low, rolling hills of shallow soils. They are frequently blanketed by coastal fog in the morning, then cooled by Pacific Ocean breezes in the afternoon. This creates a long growing season that yields deliciously fresh and elegant wines.
