About This Wine

Bodegas Viceroyalty

Vino Tinto Patrimonial

This exceptional wine is part of our Fine Wine Collection.

Winemaking Winemakers carefully balance 50% Carménère and 50% Carignan to craft a wine that marries plush dark fruit with vibrant acidity and firm tannins. Sourced from heritage vines in the Cachapoal and Maule Valleys, the Carignan component—particularly from older plantings—adds depth and structure, while the Carménère contributes rich blackberry flavors and a touch of black pepper spice. Aged with precision, this blend unfolds in layers, offering a bold, full-bodied experience with a lingering finish of dried herbs and earthy complexity.

Vintage The 2024 vintage in Chile’s Cachapoal and Maule Valleys was defined by even ripening and optimal vineyard conditions. A steady growing season allowed Carménère to develop its signature depth at the same time Carignan thrived, maintaining its vibrant acidity and structure. The balance of warm days and cool nights ensured a harvest that preserved both concentration and freshness. This vintage reflects the seamless interplay between climate, tradition, and the enduring character of these historic terroirs.

Pairing Logic This full-bodied red is an ideal match for robust dishes, from braised short ribs to herb-crusted lamb. Its bold blackberry and plum notes, complemented by baking spices and a subtle black pepper finish, pair beautifully with roasted root vegetables, aged cheeses, and dishes with a smoky or charred element. Enhance the experience by incorporating warming spices, rosemary, or a touch of balsamic reduction to highlight the wine’s layered complexity.

Wine Region

Chile

In recent years, Chile has increasingly produced incredible wines of exceptional value. With a setting influenced by the Andes Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, the Atacama Desert and even Antarctica, Chile is a diverse land with rocky foothills, lush valley floors and cool coastal zones. Chile gained international renown for its New World take on classic Bordeaux varieties. Interestingly, it's an obscure red Bordeaux variety—Carménère—that has become Chile's signature grape. But other Old World varieties do equally well in Chile; Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay have all become mainstays of Chilean wine, exhibiting impressive levels of quality and balance in the country's distinct terroirs.
