About This Wine

Ballard Lane

Sauvignon Blanc

The award-winning Ballard Lane label began 40 years ago under California’s Miller family, farmers in the Central Coast area for five generations. Every bottle reflects their dedication to the soils of the region. Like the Central Coast lifestyle, Ballard Lane wines are balanced, harmonious and memorable, the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc earning Best in Class at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. From vineyards across the region, the 2013 vintage expresses elements of both the warmer and cooler climates within the Central Coast: a rich mouthfeel and tropical layers of pineapple and melon from the warm climates complement the natural acidity, vibrant lime juice and spices from the cooler areas. White pepper and fresh cut grass dance on the palate and nose for a refreshing wine to be enjoyed year round.

Wine Region

Central Coast

California's Central Coast might be a bit quieter than Napa or Sonoma to the north, but this lesser-known region produces many world-class wines. Enjoying incredible terroir along its vast 280-mile stretch—from San Francisco Bay to Santa Barbara—Central Coast wines are increasingly in demand. Its position between the Pacific Coast Ranges and the Southern Coast Ranges is key to its quality, with many cool-climate AVAs offering elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Merlot. In the hotter parts of the Central Coast, away from the coastal fogs and cold mountain slopes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre are exceptional.
