About This Wine
Avro 618
Southern Sky Verdelho
One sip of our 92 point, Gold Medal-winning Avro 618 "Southern Sky" Verdelho will transport you to a new delicious destination. This wine is light and refreshing with notes of tropical fruit, citrus and hints of baking spice. Verdelho is a white grape native to Portugal that has shown stunning success in the vineyards of South Australia. It was among the first varieties to arrive in Australia in the 1820s after making the long journey from its home on Portugal's island of Madeira. At first, Verdelho's full potential went unrecognized, as it was primarily used for fortified wines and blends. Finally, in the 1970s, this unique grape began showing up in light and fruity single-varietal wines, earning admiration from locals and travelers alike. We invite you to experience its success firsthand and taste why this exciting variety deserves a place at your table. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

- Spices
Freshly poured, notes of lemongrass, lime, pineapple, kiwi, and melon soar upwards from the glass. Over time these fruity scents give way to aromas of cardamom and nutmeg, which carry through to the palate and are joined by crisp acidity and tropical fruit flavors.
