About This Wine

Andás

Malbec Reserva

Varietal: Malbec
ABV: 14%
Winemakers: Bodega Benegas
MSRP: 20.00

The Benegas family has winemaking in its blood. With wineries that date back to 1883, the Benegas family was the first to bring French grapevines to Argentina—an act that would help transform the country decades later into one of the most popular producers of New World wines. Today, Argentina’s wines delight wine lovers worldwide with their fruit forward flavors and heady aromas— a flavor profile that is in no small part thanks to the pioneering efforts of the Benegas family.

REGION:

Finca Libertad, the family’s vineyard, is located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains and nestled along the bank of the Mendoz river in the Mendoza region of Argentina. This area, Lujan de Coyo, has become known as the land of Malbec since the variety flourished in Argentina in the late 20th century. The region’s high altitude offers its vineyards cool alpine winds at night to balance long hot and dry days in the sun. The push and pull of the extreme temperatures means a longer growing season and fully ripe grapes, leading to a complex, velvety wine.

TASTING NOTES:

Intense and full-bodied with a smooth mouth feel, the 100% Malbec wine’s bold tannins and intense fruity flavors—plum, berry, and cherry—are complemented by savory notes, featuring hints of toasted coffee and chocolate. Adding to the wine’s complex flavors and long finish, it’s aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, imparting an earthy wood influence. This luscious, intensely purple wine is perfect for long lazy dinners for two.

Wine Region

Mendoza

Mendoza is the heart of Argentinian wine production. It was here where a previously little-known French grape variety called Malbec became a global superstar. With its extreme altitudes and Andean climate, Mendoza nurtures its vineyards in dramatic sun-drenched plateaus set against snow-capped peaks. At these elevations, the intense UV light ripens grapes in a unique way, working with the cold mountain air to create gloriously supple and expressive wines with bold yet brightly aromatic fruit. Mendoza's high-quality varietals from Bonarda, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are also notable, as are its fine Torrontés, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from sub-regions such as Maipú, Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley.
