About This Wine
Albamar
Sauvignon Blanc
This wine combines grapes from the warmer Central Valley and an estate vineyard in Chile’s preeminent cool climate growing area, Casablanca Valley. Here, intensely cold Pacific waters, ushered in from the Antarctic by the Humboldt Current, create a unique microclimate. Cool, foggy nights and clear, cloudless days are typical during the growing season, producing ripely matured grapes that retain natural acidity. The wine’s fruity aromas are reminiscent of Casablanca’s foggy sunrise (“alba”) and the cooling breezes of the ocean (“mar”) that gently sweep the vines with dry, clean air. The estate vineyard lies in a flat valley cradled by hills and reminiscent of parts of the Mediterranean. Served by drip irrigation, its 130 planted hectares are adjacent to the winery, which allows for grapes to be picked in the cool mornings and ready for processing minutes after the harvest. Albamar Sauvignon Blanc greets the nose with a unique blend of aromas, including tomato, lime and white peach. Refreshing acidity, mineral notes, and citrus flavors precede the smooth body, balanced structure and lingering finish exemplary of Chile’s finest growing region.
