About This Wine

1000 Stories

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Zinfandel

Each batch of 1000 Stories is crafted individually and is unique in its final profile. Batch 62—the final batch from the excellent 2017 vintage is exceptionally smooth, with a ripe raspberry character indicative of Mendocino County’s sun-drenched Zinfandel wines. The wine marries Mendocino’s historic old-vine Zinfandel sites with vineyards in Paso Robles, Lodi, and Amador County. In signature 1000 Stories fashion, this batch was aged in traditional French and American oak, with a portion finished in charred bourbon barrels before the final blend was assembled.

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.
