ABOUT THIS WINE:

Wyethia Flame

Wyethia Flame

Red

All across the beautiful “Golden State” of California vineyards dot the landscape. From Willow Creek in the north to Temecula in the south grapes are grown in countless different conditions and in countless different varietals. Even in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, you’ll find grapevines growing alongside the wildflowers. The Wyetha Flame Red has a vibrancy that can only come from a mountain climate. Rich in tastes of black cherry and plum we recommend trying it slightly chilled to highlight the fruit flavors as they warm. It's taken home Gold medals too! 90 points and a Gold were awarded at the 2018 International Women's Wine Competition.

WINE REGION:

Outline of California

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.

TASTING NOTES:

Black Cherry

Blackcurrant

Black Pepper

The Wyetha Flame red wine is wildly aromatic, fruity, and delicately spicy with hints of pepper, ripe cherries, and thyme. From the first sip, you will be able to taste the dark fruit, fantastic structure, and vibrancy in this young wine. Enjoy foods with savory and rustic mushroom accents or try with chocolate cherry cake - either direction will make the wine sing.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

large bunches of red grapes on the vine

Wyethia Flame

Wyethia Flame is rooted in the history and terroir of Lodi, California. The Wyethia flower shares this region's picturesque landscape with its state flower, the poppy, blooming in the sunny vales and floodplains between gently rolling hills. The "flame" refers to the traditional cultivation of Flame Tokay grapes introduced to the region in the 1900s, which for years supported Lodi's agricultural industry and were a common sight in nearly all its vineyards. Nowadays, this forgotten grape only exists in far-away corners of the region, replaced by European varieties better suited for winemaking. Our wines epitomize Lodi's terroir by respecting the rich history of native flora and cultivated crops, which helped shape the flourishing wine region it is known as today.
