Chenin Blanc
The 2020 Critics Challenge International Wine Competition pronounced this vintage's Chenin Blanc from Clarksburg a winner, of 94 points and a platinum medal. No two Californian wines are alike. Mountain ranges that snake up and down the state along with coastal influence make the regions that grow grapes incredibly diverse. The relatively unknown region of Clarksburg is a perfect example of this unique diversity - nestled close to Sacramento and Solano Counties which are typically hot and dry, Clarksburg receives maritime influenced fog from the San Francisco Bay, keeping the area much cooler than its neighboring regions. This Chenin Blanc was aged through barrel fermentation and features nutty and vanilla aromas on the nose. A creamy texture is balanced by refreshing acidity from a bit of Sauvignon Blanc blended in. WINE REGION:
Clarksburg
Lying south of Sacramento in the California Delta, Clarksburg is a small but productive AVA where quality Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc grow in abundance. The San Francisco Bay has a strong influence here, bringing in fog and cool breezes that temper the valley heat. With its flat, mineral-rich clay soils, vines thrive in Clarksburg, needing little attention to produce plenty of quality grapes. Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Albariño and the red variety Petite Sirah also produce great wines here.

ABOUT THE BRAND:
Whipstitch
Two colossal mountain ranges traverse the state of California, creating dynamic ecosystems and drastically different terroirs. The Sierra Nevadas to the east and Coastal Ranges to the west form the whipstichery of peaks that outline the edges of California's inland wine regions. Here, our Whipstitch winemakers craft dynamic wines by weaving together fruit from diverse microclimates to fit each region's precise style. Like the picturesque peaks of California, our wines will forever evoke a sense of splendor as they withstand the test of time.
