ABOUT THIS WINE:

Whipstitch

Zinfandel

Nearly twice the size of Napa Valley, Lodi is located right in the middle of California’s vast Central Valley. Vineyards planted in the region are subject to an incredibly dry growing season and extreme temperatures. Zinfandel thrives in an environment of the sort as it requires much less attention than finessed and delicate varietals. This 94 point, Platinum Medal-winning wine is big and powerful but has a beautiful structure. Fruit was picked on the later side to allow tannins to fully ripen. Bright red fruit flavors meld with intense baking spice notes. Full-bodied with a clean and elegant finish, this is a perfect pair for fatty meat dishes off the grill.

WINE REGION:

Outline of Lodi

Lodi

The jewel of the Central Valley, Lodi lies just east of the California Delta in an area of varied terroir. Winemakers here can extract different grape variety expressions from each plot of land. Zinfandel is common here, making deeply fruity and tantalizingly smoky wines, often from old vines. But the deep loamy soils and balmy Mediterranean climate, with its warm days and cool nights, help keep Lodi's grape varieties and winemaking styles impressively diverse. Alongside the ubiquitous Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Viognier also thrive. Lodi is a melting pot of different grape varieties and winemaking techniques, all of which make it a rewarding region to explore.

"This brand is a crowd-pleaser of a Zinfandel, with flashy fruit, fall spice, and just a touch of sweetness to temper its rustic character. It’s a solid grill-side partner at a price that pleases." - Rich Cook, 2020 Sommelier Challenge

ABOUT THE BRAND:

large bunches of red grapes on the vine

Whipstitch

Two colossal mountain ranges traverse the state of California, creating dynamic ecosystems and drastically different terroirs. The Sierra Nevadas to the east and Coastal Ranges to the west form the whipstichery of peaks that outline the edges of California's inland wine regions. Here, our Whipstitch winemakers craft dynamic wines by weaving together fruit from diverse microclimates to fit each region's precise style. Like the picturesque peaks of California, our wines will forever evoke a sense of splendor as they withstand the test of time.
