Thistle & Quail
Russian River Valley, California
Light in body and full of round flavors, this Pinot Grigio is perfectly crisp and Double Gold Medal-winning
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Thistle & Quail
Pinot Grigio
The Russian River Valley climate in Sonoma County is made for growing cooler-climate grapes. The region receives heavy influence from the Russian River, which carries waters inland from the chilly Pacific Ocean. A heavy fog veil lies in the valley in the mornings during the growing season and burns off mid-day, giving fruit a chance to bask in the sunshine and fully develop concentrated but approachable flavors. Our Pinot Grigio is light in body and beautiful when sipped. During harvest, it was pressed gently in whole clusters and fermented in stainless steel tanks to maximize contact on the lees. Because of this aging process, the light body showcases a roundness in the mouth that makes you go back for glass after glass! Classic flavors of green tree fruits and bright stone fruits meld together and are complemented by a slight acidity—a perfect bottle for weekend afternoons on the pa ...

WINE REGION:
Russian River Valley
Prized for its elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Sonoma's Russian River Valley is one of California's premier AVAs for cool-climate wines. Blessed with the Petaluma Gap—a break in the coastal mountains where chill, foggy air blows in from the Pacific—the valley also benefits from the effects of the Russian River itself. This draws cool Pacific Ocean air inland and creates blanketing fogs that veil the vineyards throughout the chilly mornings. The result is one of the state's longest and coolest growing seasons. Bracing acidity and complex flavors characterize wines from this region, which also includes excellent sparklers made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
