Marlborough, New Zealand
An earthy Sauvignon Blanc from the stony flats of New Zealand’s Wairau River
ABOUT THIS WINE:

Sugar Reef
Sauvignon Blanc
Since the first vineyards began popping up in the 1970s, the Marlborough region of New Zealand’s South Island has become renowned as a premier source of Sauvignon Blanc. The climate combines hot and sunny days with cool nights, helping to extend the ripening period and produce wines with a distinct and crisp flavor. The region’s reputation has grown to such an extent that some critics now call it the best source of Sauvignon Blanc in the world.
Drawn from vineyards near the Cloudy Bay, the Sugar Reef Sauvignon Blanc draws its unique flavors and aroma from the stony flats of the Wairau river. The wine’s character bears out its wild origin, with aromas of wild nettles and citrus that are carried through in the flavor. A beautifully balanced wine, the fresh citrus flavors are accompanied by hints of dried herbs and passion fruit.

WINE REGION:

Marlborough
New Zealand's Marlborough region is arguably its most important, a name synonymous with the country's distinctive world-class Sauvignon Blancs. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc—with its tropical fruit, gooseberry and herbaceous notes—is one of a kind. And it is all thanks to Marlborough's terroir: a large, gravelly river valley inland of Cloudy Bay at the northeast tip of the South Island, it enjoys long, warm, maritime-influenced summers. But Marlborough isn't only about Sauvignon Blanc. The region also produces exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, sparkling wine and both dry and sweet Riesling.
