Saturn's Rings

Malbec

The Pacific Northwest is infamously known for being rainy and grey, but Washington State experiences warm sunny days much more frequently than one might assume. The state is home to multiple mountain ranges that provide a rain shadow effect for winegrowing regions and makes most of the vineyards planted there safe from the heavy influences of the Pacific Ocean. Washington is known for producing big, bold, and lush red wines, and this Malbec is no exception. The growing season in 2018 provided almost perfect conditions for growers, allowing fruit to develop the perfect balance between acidity and tannin. The structure of a Malbec is based on the acidity in the wine rather than the tannins which is a key factor in the varietal’s popularity. This wine is dark and brooding but approachable. It features dark fruit notes and a spiciness that will have you going back for another glass. Perfe ...

WINE REGION:

Outline of Washington

Washington

With 18 recognized AVAs, Washington is the second-largest wine-producing state in the United States. Most of these AVAs are located in the east, centered around the valleys of Walla Walla, the Columbia River and Yakima. The grape varieties that thrive here are numerous: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris all continue to make increasingly compelling wines. Washington wines thrive in dry, semi-arid conditions far from the Pacific Ocean and are protected from the Pacific Northwest rain shadow by the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. Washington owes its unique terroir to the historic Missoula Floods, which swept through the region 10,000 years ago, stripping away the earth and replacing it with sandy soils from modern-day Utah, Idaho and Montana.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

large bunches of red grapes on the vine

Saturn's Rings

Can you imagine the early conversations about planets? How did one first comprehend a group of celestial orbs rotating around a glowing ball of fire? Some made of gas, minerals, ice or rock, and some with rings? Truly incredible. Saturn's Rings celebrates the open mind and thirstful quest for knowledge. These wines embody the winemaker's imagination which, much like the early astrologers, is never held back by the boundaries of the unknown. Each bottle is like the night sky—filled with fascination, beauty and wonder.
