ABOUT THIS WINE:

Rakes Point Merroir

Rakes Point Merroir

Sauvignon Blanc

Wines are often described as having terroir, which is defined as a “sense of place.” It means that you can taste where a wine has come from. Oysters are the same, and we wanted to find a wine that can showcase the merroir of our favorite Ocean food. Whether you enjoy the sweetness of a West Coast oyster or the brine of the East Coast, the Rakes Point Merroir Sauvignon Blanc will be the perfect pairing. We can’t wait for you to try it with a half dozen of our country’s finest oysters. Whether you enjoy the sweetness of a West Coast oyster or the brine of the East Coast, the Rakes Point Merroir Sauvignon Blanc will be the perfect pairing.

WINE REGION:

Outline of North Coast

North Coast

The North Coast AVA is a vast "super region" covering three million acres of prime land north of San Francisco. It encompasses the famous wine counties of Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino, as well as Lake, Marin and Solano. While most wines from these counties are made under one of the prestigious regional AVAs, winemakers can also blend grapes from different counties. In this way, they create wines that show off the quality of the entire region and are not limited to specific terroirs. Common varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel.

TASTING NOTES:

Melon

Lime

Pineapple

The perfect oyster wine, period. This is a crisp Sauvignon Blanc that will pair best with oysters but is a great choice for any fresh seafood or vegetables. With light hints of Clementine, grapefruit, and lime dancing around basil and wet stone, it is complex without overwhelming the delicate flavors of the sea.
