Marsh Hawk's Plunge
Dunnigan Hills, California
The 90 Point, Gold medal-winning Marsh Hawk’s Plunge soars above the competition
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Marsh Hawk's Plunge
Petite Sirah
This beautifully structured wine is stoic but still sublimely elegant. We love the way flavors fly around in the glass. With a nose containing dark fruit, violets, and a subtle hint of baked graham cracker, how could it be anything but delicious? It comes from Dunnigan Hills, a region with a large diurnal shift (warm days to grow the grapes, but cold nights that let the grapes recover to retain their natural acidity). The raspberry, blackberry, and dried cranberry notes easily support full-bodied dishes like aged cheeses, barbecue, or even chicken in a mole sauce. And judges love it too! It took home 90 Points and a Gold medal from the 2019 Sommelier Challenge.

WINE REGION:
Dunnigan Hills
The lesser-known Dunnigan Hills appellation is nestled in a set of hills in the northwestern part of Yolo County, just east of Sonoma County. Known for producing big reds and lighter more acidic white. With rolling hills varying between 200 and 500 feet elevation, the region experiences vast diurnal temperature swings. This extreme change between dry heat during the day and cool temperatures at night allows the area to boast an extremely long growing season.
