ABOUT THIS WINE:

Louis Jadot

Louis Jadot

Chardonnay

Louis Jadot knows a thing or two about Burgundy. Red or White, you can trust that the wines from Jadot will teach you something about a specific terroir in Burgundy. Produced in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, this famous wine is partially barrel fermented with 6 months of aging in French oak casks. The judicious, subtle use of oak allows Louis Jadot’s Pouilly-Fuissé to retain its complexity and structure. This wine has aromas of fresh red apples, honey, and white flowers with elegant and rich flavors of toasted nuts and citrus. One of the purest expressions of this typical Burgundian grape. 100% Chardonnay makes this a delight to discover what could be a new (to you) expression of a noble grape.

NOTE: This is NOT a Firstleaf Exclusive Wine and is not eligible for discounts, member pricing, or member guarantee. Limited Availability.

WINE REGION:

Outline of Pouilly-Fuissé AOC

Pouilly-Fuissé AOC

The jewel in the crown of Burgundy's sunny Mâconnais district, Pouilly-Fuissé is renowned for its mouthwatering white wines made from Chardonnay. Located in a series of limestone hills and enjoying a warmer climate than the region's north, Pouilly-Fuissé wines offer more tropical flavors than whites from the Côte de Beaune. These aromas are complemented by the taste of juicy stone fruit, particularly ripe peach and apricot. Most Pouilly-Fuissé wines spend time aging in barrel, where they pick up more complex flavors from oak and oxygen contact. These toasty, buttery and nutty flavors add a savory edge to the rounded fruitiness. AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) is the most prestigious of the quality tiers within France’s wine classification system. AOC-designated wines must follow multiple different rules on a broad range of topics. Wines are regulated on the appellation, varietal inclusion, production methods, alcohol levels, vineyard planting density and age of the vineyard.
