ABOUT THIS WINE:
Iron Arrow
Merlot
If you are looking for delectable dark fruit and satisfying sweetness, our 2018 Iron Arrow Merlot hits the target! This rich and fruity wine comes to us from Columbia Valley in Washington. This region's warm, dry climate provides a setting for America's second-most-popular grape variety to thrive. Although often thought of as a blending grape, Merlot can produce delicious, high-quality, single-varietal wines when the environment is right. Without the backbone provided by its usual blend partner, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot exhibits soft textures and luscious fruit flavor. Through skillful winemaking, these characteristics have the potential to shine. If you have never tasted this grape on its own, let our Iron Arrow Merlot launch you into a new world of plush and plummy possibilities. Pair this wine with roasted pork loin or mushroom risotto for a meal that is sure to make an impact. < ...

WINE REGION:
Columbia Valley
Sheltered by the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, Columbia Valley is home to the majority of Washington's vineyards. Cool nights keep zippy acidity in the grapes, while long daylight hours give the fruit plenty of chance to ripen. This results in full-bodied Merlot, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and deeply concentrated Syrah. White wines are just as tantalizing, with toasty oak-touched Chardonnay and ripe stone fruit-flavored Riesling taking the spotlight. Sub-AVAs to look out for are Yakima Valley and Walla Walla. The Columbia Valley is one of the only appellations in the United States to occupy vineyards in two states, as it crosses the Oregon border in the southern part of the valley.
