ABOUT THIS WINE:

Idlewright

Idlewright

Rosé of Sangiovese

Our Rosé is a rich, elegant, exotic, and two-time Gold Medal, 93 and 91 point winner! 2020 Critics Challenge International Wine & Spirits and 2020 Sunset International Wine Competition agree that there are few wines quite as tempting as a Sangiovese Rosé. Taken from the Italian varietal known for a versatile array of reds (known as "Rosato" in its homeland), the winemakers at Idlewright have extracted the richness and flavor of the grape without giving way to a darker hue. The result? A light, rose-water colored wine packed full of unexpected flavor. Enjoy with island-inspired flavors like tuna poke or fresh fried seafood.

WINE REGION:

Outline of Mendocino County

Mendocino County

One of the unsung regions of the North Coast, Mendocino County enjoys some of California's finest cool-climate terroirs. Lying north of Sonoma, it is home to 12 separate AVAs, spread through sleepy valleys and long, rugged coastlines—much of which exudes a rustic, laid-back feel. Mendocino delights fans of top-quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and sparkling wine, but there is also plenty of fine Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Syrah made in its warmer sites too. Mendocino is also famous for its high number of organic-certified vineyards, reflecting the general "off-grid" hippie nature of its winemaking pioneers.

TASTING NOTES:

Cherry

White Flowers

Strawberry

Classic flavor profile of a Sangiovese Rosé includes sweet cherry, wild strawberry, and raspberry. We also find hints of watermelon, guava, and white flowers along with a surprising minerality with notes of wet stone in this beauty from Mendocino County. "Crisp, cool-climate minerality, red berries and citrus, creamy midpalate with zesty acidity" - Allison Levine, 2020 Critics Challenge International Wine Competition.
