ABOUT THIS WINE:

Groth

Groth

Cabernet Sauvignon

An incredibly highly lauded wine—winning 90+ points from some of the best critics. The Cabernet Sauvignon fruit is grown on estate vineyards and several partner growers all within the Oakville AVA — in the heart of the Napa Valley. The fruit is night-harvested, cluster-sorted by hand, crushed, then fermented at their Oakville Estate winery. Coming from a diverse selection of vineyards, the fruit was harvested over 23 days this season, showcasing the complexity and diversity within this compact AVA. After pressing and settling, the wine was transferred to small French oak barrels for 18 months of aging. It is delicious with complex flavors and pairs well with food.

Due to state registrations, we cannot ship this wine to AL, AZ, CO, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, ME, MI, MO, NJ, NV, NY, OH, PA, SD, TX, VT, WA.

WINE REGION:

Outline of Oakville

Oakville

One of the most highly esteemed wine districts in the United States, Oakville is at the heart of the Napa Valley and is renowned for its red dirt and near-perfect climate. Warmer than Yountville and Stag's Leap but cooler than Rutherford, producers in Oakville can craft deeply flavored wines full of nuance. Merlot and Zinfandel thrive here, but the standout grape is, of course, Cabernet Sauvignon. Oakville has a surprisingly large concentration of producers making "cult status" Cab Sauv with loyal followers. The AVA's zingy, tropical-tasting Chardonnay and zesty Sauvignon Blanc are also highlights.

Groth

You might say Groth is a story of right time, right place. Dennis and Judy Groth came very close to realizing a dream — buying a premium vineyard in the heart of wine country. The first recognition that immediately put Groth on the map was when Robert Parker of the Wine Advocate gave the Groth 1985 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon California’s first 100-point wine. Since day one, the Groth family has been present in the business every day. Today, second-generation family member Suzanne Groth is the custodian of the business. Suzanne shares her parents’ love for Oakville, Napa Valley, and the unique agricultural preserve that has been developed there.
