ABOUT THIS WINE:

Espaldera

Espaldera

Garnacha-Syrah

Judges love this wine, it took home 90 points and a Gold medal at the 2018 San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge! There’s an adage that old trees don’t break in the storm, and it’s the same with grape vines. The older, hardier vines are famous for producing grapes of unmatched quality, full of lively nuances and complex characteristics that aren’t found in the fruit from younger vines. For the Espaldera the winemakers put the wine through two different aging periods in old and new oak to really draw out the tannic flavors in the grapes. The resulting wine is brambly, with jammy black fruits and herbal undertones. The wine, however, is low in acidity and will best be paired with a dish that has higher amounts of natural acids. Think tomatoes or a spicy jambalaya.

Due to state registrations, we cannot ship this wine to CT.

WINE REGION:

Outline of Campo de Borja

Campo de Borja

Located near Spain’s northwest coast, Campo de Borja is famous for developing the art of Spanish winemaking, with monasteries tending vineyards since the 1100s. There are few places on Earth that can produce so wide a range of grape varietals as the Campo de Borja, famed for both red and white wines. Nestled in the Ebro River Valley, white wines such as Viura and Chardonnay that would ordinarily wilt in the region's harsh summers thrive thanks to the cooling winds coming down from the Moncayo mountain range.

This wine is perfect for pairing with spicy foods. Naturally, it pairs with Spanish food. Try it on your next tapas night! It also pairs beautifully with Cajun cuisine. Our experts are loving it with saffron rice and gumbo. This wine is low in acidity, and a tomato-based dish will heighten it beautifully.
