Dominus
Napa Valley, California
One of Napa's finest wines from a driven winemaker.
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Dominus
Red Blend
One of the most revered wineries in Napa, Dominus, is known for creating wines with soul. Napa Valley
Napa gained international acclaim following the Judgement of Paris in 1976, when its wines defeated its French counterparts in a blind tasting. Napa's signature wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and various Bordeaux blends, but many other varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive here. With 16 sub-AVAs and a Mediterranean climate with rich geology, Napa is a winemaker's dream. The winegrowing region runs between the Mayacamas Mountains and Vaca Mountains for 30 miles, from Calistoga to Los Carneros. Napa has a wide array of soil types for such a small region, from volcanic foothills to alluvial valley floors, which help to produce varied and complex wines.

ABOUT THE BRAND:
Dominus
In the late 1960s, while attending UC Davis, Christian Moueix fell in love with Napa Valley and its wines. Son of famed French merchants, he returned home to manage the family vineyards, including Chateaux Petrus. His love of Napa lingered, and in 1981 he discovered the historic Napanook vineyard, a 124-acre site west of Yountville. He chose the name Dominus or "Lord of the Estate" in Latin to underscore his longstanding commitment to stewardship of the land.
