Beloved grape varieties Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon come together to shape the new vintage of our Vino Rosso; the previous vintage won 94 points along with its "Best of Class" designation. Diversi dal Solito has once again crafted a wine that personifies the beauty of Old World wine country with a contemporary fruit-forward twist. This rich blend bursts with red and dark fruit flavor with an underlying rustic element that returns to its Italian roots. Situated on the picturesque island of Sicily — known as "the land of the sun" — these vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate with long, hot summers and mild winters. These thick-skinned red grapes grow at 600 to 800 feet above sea level from 20-year-old vines rooted in clay soils. Italy's Terre Siciliane covers wines made across the island of Sicily—including its satellite islands of Salina, Pantelleria and Stromboli. The wines can be still or sparkling, red, white or rosé, dry or sweet, and made from such grape varieties as Sangiovese, Catarratto and Vermentino. Whatever the style, Terre Siciliane wines benefit from the natural features of this southern Italian region. Sicily's abundant sunshine, mineral-rich soils, coastal breezes and drying African winds help it produce exceptional grapes that transfer into wines of character and expression. The IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) classification system was created to provide more freedom and ease for winemaking within Italy. Wines under the IGT classification are regulated on the region of origin—where within the country grapes are grown—instead of varietals or wine styles as DOC and DOCG laws focus on.
