Uncork layers of earth, fruit and spice in this "Best of Class" awarded wine
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Comarca
Monastrell
Our Monastrell was just awarded "Best of Class" and a Gold Medal from the 2023 Los Angeles Invitational Wine & Spirits Competition!
Comarca's new 100 percent Monastrell comes from the southeast quadrant of Spain. This balanced wine offers red and dark fruit notes joined by layers of enticing earthiness and spice. Our Spanish winemaking partners work with 25-30-year-old vines that produce low quantities of plump, flavorful fruit. Monastrell is native to Spain and well suited to its hot weather and dry environment. Rainfall is often scarce, but when it does arrive, limestone and clay soils are quick to soak up the moisture, storing it throughout the summer and keeping vines refreshed. This wine leans slightly lighter than some of Spain's more powerful examples of Monastrell, making it a friendly introduction to this ancient varietal. Enjoy it alongside smoky barbecue sauc ...
