ABOUT THIS WINE:

Cloudy Bay

Cloudy Bay

Sauvignon Blanc

Considered to be the purest expression of terroir in the Marlborough region, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is made from nine different plots of land. Made with grapes that are harvested by hand in cool evening temperatures to preserve their aromas, this wine owes its fruity character to the region's maritime climate. The 2020 harvest was completed under the unprecedented conditions of a New Zealand-wide lock-down due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and vibrant on the nose, with aromatics of bright citrus, kaffir lime, orchard blossom, and passionfruit.

NOTE: This is NOT a Firstleaf Exclusive wine and is not eligible for discounts, member pricing, or member guarantee. Limited Availability.

Due to state registrations, we cannot ship this wine to AL, AZ, CO, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, ME, MI, MO, NJ, NY, OH, PA, SD, TX, VT, W

WINE REGION:

Outline of Marlborough

Marlborough

New Zealand's Marlborough region is arguably its most important, a name synonymous with the country's distinctive world-class Sauvignon Blancs. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc—with its tropical fruit, gooseberry and herbaceous notes—is one of a kind. And it is all thanks to Marlborough's terroir: a large, gravelly river valley inland of Cloudy Bay at the northeast tip of the South Island, it enjoys long, warm, maritime-influenced summers. But Marlborough isn't only about Sauvignon Blanc. The region also produces exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, sparkling wine and both dry and sweet Riesling.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

Cloudy Bay

Established in 1985, Cloudy Bay was one of the first five winemakers to venture into Marlborough. At the time, it was almost an unimaginable place to set-up a vineyard. But Cloudy Bay's founder, David Hohnen, was convinced of its potential to produce great wine and invested in the region's best land. Since then, Marlborough has risen to become New Zealand's leading wine region, as well as one of the finest winemaking locations in the world. The winery was named after Cloudy Bay, a body of water explorer Captain James Cook came across during his voyage to New Zealand in 1770. His discovery coincided with flooding in the region, which washed large amounts of sediment into the sea. Noticing the water's opaque appearance, Cook cleverly christened the area "Cloudy Bay." Today, Cloudy Bay not only captures the essence of Marlborough but also embodies New Zealand's luxury to the world. The luxury of space and time, of intimate moments and nature's rarest qualities.
