Clarendelle
Bordeaux, France
A royal rosé from the wine company headed by the Prince of Luxembourg
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Clarendelle
Rose
The Clarendelle brand comes from Domaine Clarence Dillon, owner of the world famous Château Haut-Brion. It was established by Prince Robert of Luxembourg, the great-grandson of Clarence Dillon himself and now President of Domaine Clarence Dillon. Influenced by the clairets of old, Clarendelle is the first premium rosé in the company’s history. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes for this vintage were harvested in ideal conditions during a hot “Indian summer,” perfectly ripened in what will be remembered as a very good year in Bordeaux. Drawn off from the vats after a short maceration, this elegant rosé is fruit-forward, fragrant and well-balanced. Beautifully pink in color, the 2014 offers intense aromas of blackcurrant, passion fruit and wild strawberry. It’s silky and lively on the palate, and delivers an inviting freshness.

Bordeaux
Probably the world's most famous wine region, Bordeaux is a true powerhouse of French quality. While Bordeaux is home to some of the country's most expensive bottles, it is also possible to find great-value wines from small producers. Almost all red and white wines from Bordeaux are blends. Reds tend to be a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. But just as important as the blends are the quality of the region's terroir and unique winemaking techniques. The Bordeaux region is divided by the Gironde River into two main parts. Cabernet Sauvignon reigns supreme on the Left Bank, while Merlot dominates the Right Bank. White wines are usually a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
