WINE REGION:

Outline of Napa Valley

Napa Valley

Napa gained international acclaim following the Judgement of Paris in 1976, when its wines defeated its French counterparts in a blind tasting. Napa's signature wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and various Bordeaux blends, but many other varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive here. With 16 sub-AVAs and a Mediterranean climate with rich geology, Napa is a winemaker's dream. The winegrowing region runs between the Mayacamas Mountains and Vaca Mountains for 30 miles, from Calistoga to Los Carneros. Napa has a wide array of soil types for such a small region, from volcanic foothills to alluvial valley floors, which help to produce varied and complex wines.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

Cherry Pie

FROM THE WINERY: Founder Jayson Woodbridge always had a desire to make Pinot Noir. He contacted the owners of historic Stanly Ranch, in the Carneros appellation of Napa. He was shortly thereafter granted access to the absolute best blocks on the property to craft his wine. Inspired by his grandmother's baking and the artwork of TR Colletta, Cherry Pie is at once a rich and layered, redolent of the flavors and aromas of something delicious and beautiful, being made with care. In early 2008 while perusing New York's Soho District, Jayson happened into the Campton Gallery during its exhibition of paintings by artist TR Colletta. Colletta's richly detailed paintings of every day, distinctly American objects, are at once familiar and remarkable, assuming an evocative, sculptural character. Jayson was particularly drawn to a compelling oil on canvas of a juicy, mouthwatering, hot-out-of-the-oven cherry pie. He knew this was to be the label and the name for his Pinot Noir still in the barrel - Cherry Pie.
