ABOUT THIS WINE:

Caduto dalle Nuvole

Caduto dalle Nuvole

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

The 2020 Critics Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition 92 points and gold medal win are the latest accolades lavished upon our Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Critics and we alike are confident that our perfectly balanced Italian red will help you capture the essence of la dolce vita: lazy walks through the countryside, strolls down cobblestone streets, watching the sun set through a row of Cypress trees, riding a Vespa around the famous sights of Rome, or enjoying a leisurely meal on a sidewalk with an accompanying wine poured by the bottle. There’s romance, a slow pace of life, and great food. Caduto dalle Nuvole is a juicy, yet light red wine with a ruby red color and a fruity bouquet. With a full body and soft tannins, we think it works well with lighter meats: roasted pork, roasted mushrooms, or fresh pasta with a light red sauce. Judges love it too!

WINE REGION:

Outline of Abruzzo DOC

Abruzzo DOC

The mountainous region of Abruzzo on Italy's Adriatic coast is known for one wine above all others: the deliciously food-friendly Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Loved for its deep ruby color, soft tannins and plummy-cherry juiciness, this classic Italian red boasts a subtly smoky finish that makes it loved worldwide. Its easygoing quality is thanks to Abruzzo's ideal conditions for growing grapes. Vines spread from coastal plains to mountain slopes, enjoying a warm climate and wide variation between day and night temperatures, which help fruit ripen with excellent balance and potential. Fans of white wine will enjoy Trebbiano d'Abruzzo. This wine is light and refreshing, with plenty of crisp acidity and subtle citrus notes. The DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) designation for Italian wines was introduced in the 1960s. It is the main classification system used in the country and regulates what winemakers can and cannot do regarding wine style, varietal restrictions, minimum and maximum alcohol levels, aging techniques and growing regions.

TASTING NOTES:

We love this new Italian wine. It's made in a very balanced style with juicy notes of fruit and a full body. We particularly like the fruity bouquet that seems to jump out of the glass. "Black fruit with herbal notes, round in the mouth with zesty acidity". - Rebecca Murphy, 2020 Critics Challenge International Wine Competition.
