Barrel Burner
Central Coast, California
With flavors of unparalleled intensity, this Pinot Noir is the toast of the Central Coast
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Barrel Burner
Pinot Noir
California’s Central Coast is home to some of the America’s finest Pinot Noir. The region’s moderate temperatures lengthen the growing season, which results in wines with an intense and savory taste—a flavor rarely found in Pinot Noir grown outside its native Burgundy. The combination of this Burgundy-like intensity with distinctly American winemaking produces a Pinot Noir that is celebrated throughout the world.
The Barrel Burner 2013 is a mid-weight Pinot Noir marked with a distinct, bright acidity that serves to draw fruit flavors through the palate. On the nose, strawberry shortcake and intense red currants dominate, accompanied by earthy hints of portobello mushroom. Barrel-aged in French and American oak to draw out its flavorful intensity, this wine succeeds in highlighting the very best in Central Coast Pinot Noir.

Central Coast
California's Central Coast might be a bit quieter than Napa or Sonoma to the north, but this lesser-known region produces many world-class wines. Enjoying incredible terroir along its vast 280-mile stretch—from San Francisco Bay to Santa Barbara—Central Coast wines are increasingly in demand. Its position between the Pacific Coast Ranges and the Southern Coast Ranges is key to its quality, with many cool-climate AVAs offering elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Merlot. In the hotter parts of the Central Coast, away from the coastal fogs and cold mountain slopes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre are exceptional.
