ABOUT THIS WINE:

Avistelle

Avistelle

Chardonnay

The area between the San Francisco Bay and the city of Los Angeles is a beautiful region to grow wine grapes. Known as the Central Coast, this region has an incredible diversity of microclimates and terroirs that are helped by cooling ocean winds that keep the grapes from becoming overripe. The Avistelle Chardonnay is a quintessential example of the region’s offerings. The wine has a complex nose boasting floral aromatics and fruit-forward notes of melon and pineapple. But there is more to this wine, and the bright mineral acidity and hints of vanilla make it a joy to explore again and again. These notes mean that the wine will pair beautifully with rich seafood or fried chicken. And it took home a Silver medal at the 2019 West Coast Wine Competition!

Central Coast

California's Central Coast might be a bit quieter than Napa or Sonoma to the north, but this lesser-known region produces many world-class wines. Enjoying incredible terroir along its vast 280-mile stretch—from San Francisco Bay to Santa Barbara—Central Coast wines are increasingly in demand. Its position between the Pacific Coast Ranges and the Southern Coast Ranges is key to its quality, with many cool-climate AVAs offering elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Merlot. In the hotter parts of the Central Coast, away from the coastal fogs and cold mountain slopes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre are exceptional.

TASTING NOTES:

Melon

Mineral

Vanilla

This is a stylistically true Central Coast Chardonnay. The floral aromatics are a result of cool fermentation and give a big bump of primary fruits: honeydew melon, pineapple, and other tropical fruits. The soils and winds off the Pacific give it a nice bump of bright mineral acidity and the light use of oak brings a hint of vanilla.
