Andás

Mountain Cuvée Red

The vineyards planted in Mendoza, Argentina produce some of the boldest wines in the world. The growing region is situated on the west coast of South America at an extremely high elevation–vineyards sit anywhere from 2,600 to 4,000 feet. This altitude is a key factor in the uniqueness of the growing region as the typically hot and dry climate of Argentina is moderated by the winds coming off the Andes. These cooler temperatures allow fruit to develop incredibly rich, concentrated flavors and a natural acidity. Full-bodied and deep in color, this Red Blend is 80% Bonarda, 10% Malbec, and 10% Syrah. Bonarda is relatively unknown outside of Argentina but is most similar to Merlot in taste and texture. The addition of Malbec and Syrah in this blend adds plush tannins and spicy smoky flavors that make every sip linger. Sure to be a crowd-pleaser, this wine is perfect to open during cool fa ...

WINE REGION:

Outline of Mendoza

Mendoza

Mendoza is the heart of Argentinian wine production. It was here where a previously little-known French grape variety called Malbec became a global superstar. With its extreme altitudes and Andean climate, Mendoza nurtures its vineyards in dramatic sun-drenched plateaus set against snow-capped peaks. At these elevations, the intense UV light ripens grapes in a unique way, working with the cold mountain air to create gloriously supple and expressive wines with bold yet brightly aromatic fruit. Mendoza's high-quality varietals from Bonarda, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are also notable, as are its fine Torrontés, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from sub-regions such as Maipú, Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley.

TASTING NOTES:

Pomegranate

Plum

Blackberry

Deep in color and full-bodied, this Red Blend features rich flavors of blackberry compote, stewed black plum, and a hint of tart pomegranate. Aromas of fresh coffee grinds meld with notes of deep dark chocolate thanks to oak influences. Bright but approachable, acidity rounds out the palate.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

Andás

The name Andás has a few associations with place and culture in Argentina. What place? The Andes Mountains, whose striking peaks dominate Argentina's landscape, hoisting vineyards up towards the sun. The culture? A phrase, "que andás," which loosely translates to "how's it going," "let's go," or simply a greeting between peers. Each of these high-altitude wines speaks to its roots, a place you can't help but remember and a feeling you'll never forget.
