ABOUT THIS WINE:

Aculina

Aculina

Montepulciano

Some wines are made to be enjoyed on their own, they shine lightly in a glass and are crisp—they also tend to be white wines and light reds. Others, especially tannic, dark reds are ideal for tasting with food. With the Aculina Montepulciano, you have the perfect opportunity to taste a vibrant red wine with the classic foods of Italy. This Italian wine has a deep ruby red color and a light and fruity bouquet of red fruits. We love the way that it finishes with soft tannins and nice acidity. We think that it will be amazing with all kinds of pizza, a Beef Bolognese, or even roasted pork. Judges at the 2019 Critics Challenge heaped praise on the Aculina calling it the "Best of Class - Montepulciano," awarding it 94 Points, and a Platinum medal and it received another Gold from the 2019 Denver International Wine Competition.

WINE REGION:

Outline of Abruzzo

Abruzzo

The mountainous region of Abruzzo on Italy's Adriatic coast is known for one wine above all others: the deliciously food-friendly Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Loved for its deep ruby color, soft tannins and plummy-cherry juiciness, this classic Italian red boasts a subtly smoky finish that makes it loved worldwide. Its easygoing quality is thanks to Abruzzo's ideal conditions for growing grapes. Vines spread from coastal plains to mountain slopes, enjoying a warm climate and wide variation between day and night temperatures, which help fruit ripen with excellent balance and potential. Fans of white wine will enjoy Trebbiano d'Abruzzo. This wine is light and refreshing, with plenty of crisp acidity and subtle citrus notes.

TASTING NOTES:

Cherry

Strawberry

Vanilla

The balance of the wine is the first thing we noticed when trying the Aculina. The way that the fruity bouquet plays off of the flavors and the mouthfeel is delightful, and the way that the soft tannins and nice acidity complement food is even better.
